These lock washers are TRUE TITANIUM(TM), specifically Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V). This alloy of titanium is what really sets these washers apart from those made from other materials. Grade 5 titanium is extremely springy and of course how well a split lock washer locks is based upon how much "spring" there is in the metal. Grade 5 titanium is a common aerospace alloy that has been used in commercial aircraft for decades and one of the reasons aircraft builders like to use it is due to its property to spring back into its original shape after being subjected to a load.
