These flat washers are TRUE TITANIUM(TM), specifically Grade 5 STA (Ti-6Al-4V). They are machined from bars that have been solution treated and aged in order to increase their tensile strength to 160,000 psi (1103 Mpa). They are Aerospace, Defense and Space quality and come with full mechanical and Chemical Certification as well as a Certificate of Conformance (CoC) to verify that they meet the specifications on the Unique Part Descriptor (UPD) Sheet.

Flat washers are designed to spread the pressure of a bolt or screw under the head. If the washer starts corroding, then the washer fails and the head of the fastener starts to dip into whatever is under it. You have probably seen this. A bigger problem occurs when washer actually cracks due to corrosion and then comes completely loose.

Our titanium flat washers are corrosion free, so the problems mentioned above go away with Grade 5 titanium, even in saltwater.

Another benefit with Grade 5 titanium flat washers is their strength and springiness. This spreads the pressure of the fastener's clamping force evenly around the head.
